“LET’S TALK ABOUT ETHICS” WORKSHOP

AIM: To assist candidates in preparation for taking the HPCSA National Examination of the Board for Registered Counsellors and Psychologists. This will be done by facilitating an interactive workshop on material that will be covered for the exam. Focus will be on case studies and group work ensuring that different perspectives on possible ethical dilemmas are recognised.

(Over the past 2 years we assisted Psychologists and Counsellors on all catagories)

WHAT WILL BE COVERED?

Day 1 :	Welcoming, course material Flowchart of post exam and registration process – organisations involved and contact details. Case studies What to do if there is a charge against you? In order to keep costs low you need to obtain all relevant information from the HPCSA and bring it with.

	Ethics Bill of Rights (Chap 2 of Constitution) HPCSA Code of conduct Scope of Practice Health Professions act 56/1974 how does this impact you? 10 Ethical Dilemmas

Day 2:	Welcoming, Feedback, prep for the day.
	A short discussion on all the other relevant acts involved and the impact on your registration catagory.
	Case studies in small groups
	Break
	Report back to large group What did the counsellor do? What was done right / wrong according to the code of ethics and Bill of Human Rights.

	Evaluation
	How do I prepare for the exam? Experiential suggestions from the presenter’s. What to do if there is a charge against you?

However you have to bring the following;

A willing attitude. You have to be well rested and prepared to focus on the material. There is a lot of to cover and we move at a fast pace. We cover the material not with the intent to teach you but rather to establish a mindset for ethics.

Own stationary as you will want to make notes.

All relevant information (acts, code of conduct etc.) as prescribed by the HPCSA for the exam. To obtain the information you will need for the exam use the website www.hpcsa.co.za search under Professional Boards, Board of Psychology and examination. You are responsible to obtain all required get information from the board if you go and register for the exam.

The relevant acts you will have to obtain on your own check www.gov.za.
